I can’t help but think that the upcoming Terminator Salvation movie was put into production because of the success of The Transformers. The reason being is that last shot in the trailer of the rather large (Transformer-like) Terminator. I have no evidence to support my suspicions, most likely some preliminary scripts were laying around before the success of Transformers, but with Transformers taking in the gross that it did someone perked up in an executive meeting and said we have to make a new Terminator movie where we have some big-ass Terminators.

And I suppose that’s the only way for this series to go now because it wasn’t smart enough to take a more sinister angle of computers destroying financial infrastructures and downfalling governments. I suppose that would have not made for great CGI but it would have been a more intelligent approach.  Really, I’m hoping they could mix in the obvious ways computer systems could take down humans in nonviolent ways instead of manually having to kill us all with bullets or stepping on our heads.

If indeed they are going create large Terminators then we will need a crossover movie. The Transformers need to be brought in. I don’t know what the legal ramifications of this would be, who would own the copyrights, who would bitch about not getting their percentage but let’s get the paperwork going. We all know it takes at least 5 years of lawyer bickering to get a crossover movie done. It’s time to get the process started.
